Hi George, You have been busy, and I appreciate your hard work! You have information that I would never have found! I finally found evidence that Private William J. Gilbert in Company K, 43rd Alabama Infantry is not my man. Don't know why I didn't look at Confederate pensions earlier. I know to do that. His widow Mary Ann Gilbert applied for his. So I looked at Texas pensions and there he is with his widow Sarah Jane Gilbert as applicant. I'll have to send for a copy to find out what unit he was in. I apologize for not looking this up sooner.
