I read with interest your postings on your ancestor. Yes if he returned to Galveston after going through the hellish experience at Vicksburg, I would say he was a true believer. Does your family have any other information about the war? I would be interested in it as my two ggguncles were in co. K, from Jackson County, Texas. But after the war my family came north and seemed almost to forget about the Texas experience, so I am very curious about any info on the Second Texas. Thanks for posting.
