Thanks for the info. on Hamner. I had the 2nd Mtd. Rifles info via. Footnote but did not have the Griffin's Bn. info. I have some evidence that Hamner and a hand full of other men from the 2nd Mtd. Rifles closed the war in John Miller's Co., Bryan's Cherokee Bn. It just seemed strange that Hamner being a Major in 63 would end the war as a private. The Griffin's info seems to support that. Thank.
