More info about "Harris A. Hamner" sent by his family.
.
"... Family records show H.A. Hamner going down to Mexico after the Civil War, where his first wife died. He then moved to California and bought or homesteaded land in San Timoteo Canyon, 160 acres, above present day Redlands, Ca. ..He was not successful in raising grapes or citrus, and appears to have been a depressive type, maybe leading to his suicide in 1876. ..He may have had TB, since his first wife died of it, along with 2 children. ..He also had been wounded twice in the chest, so he may have been in poor health. ..."
