In Response To: Capt. H. A. Hamner ()

Patricia,
Thanks for all the additional info. and links to info on Hamner. I believe you are correct in that the Major Hamsen of the Quale letter being the subject Harris A. Hamner. There is no Major Hamsen (Hansen) otherwise of record. Hamner ended the war as a private in John Miller's company of Bryan's Cherokee Special Services Regt. I am trying to find out how those two crossed paths. Miller who had been in Bryan's 1st Cherokee Partisan Ranger Bn. in 62, served in Adair's 2nd Cherokee Regt. before joining Well's Tx. Regt. as captain of Company E. Hamner may have had a connection with Well's although there is no record of such. A hand full of men including John Greener and the Vancleave brothers followed Hamner from the 2nd Mtd. Rifles to Griffin's Bn. to Well's Regt. (possibly), all ending up in John Miller's Co. with Bryan. I am trying to figure out how all this took place and who else is involved.
Again, thanks for the info and leads.
Hugh Keen
