Re: 27th Tx Cav, Co. A, Pvt; gaping holes in resea
Two sources: "The Third Texas Cavalry" by Douglas Hale and " A Comprehensive History of Texas 1685-1897" by Dudley G Wooten. Wooten's History contains both short histories of all Texas Confederate units and longer histories of the most famous units. This is from the history for Ross' Brigade. "From Corinth the Brigade moved down the Central Mississippi (R.R.) the latter part of Jan. 1865 and were engaged in picket duty in front of Vicksburg. After the fall of the Confederacy the Brigade surrendered at Jackson, Mississippi, Col. D.W. Jones commanding."
