Steve You asked why I would suppose that there should be a some type of death record "somewhere" of our ancestor Cpl. Adam Reed Bowen who died in a hospital in Knoxville, while serving w/the 32nd Tex. Cav.
I really would think that having been in the hospital several months, that there would be some medical protocol (even in 1862) whereby soldiers who died would be listed in some document. Somehow it just seems different from a battlefield situation whereby hundreds of soldiers had to be quickly buried with little time to document them. Hope that answers your question
