McDonalds in Scanland's Squad, Wells' Battn

Mike W. Thompson,
.
Since I'm very interested in Snow Hill (Collin County) that sounds like Snow Hill (Titus County), I want to make sure the records are correct. ..Yes, I think that Snow Hill of Collin County was named by Titus County men. ... After looking at your web page, I have a correction:

I noticed that thus far, you have not added the "Wells' Battn CSA" service to your web page for "Wilson McDonald." Why not?
.
McDONALD, Wilson McDonald (1827 MO-1877) m-A.J. McCarley; Stevens's 22d Cav, Co G; Scanland's Co A, Wells' Battn (Fannin Co, TST)
.
Again, I have spent an inordinate number of hours preparing my "Wells' Battn" web page, because Wells' Battn traversed the same area during the same era as Bourland's Regt.

.
Scanland's Squad (Companies A and B), Wells' Battn (581 men) was active during the last two (2) years of the War, even though they did not make a great splash (i.e. leaving dead bodies). ..These companies patrolled from Fort Arbuckle to Fort Belknap including the Wichita Mountains, some patrolled as far as Colorado.
.
Researching the Scanland family, Sadler's Bend of Red River, and Wallace's Bend of Red River has been quite taxing, but I think we have finally solved the mystery. ..Yes, "Wallace's Bend" is handwritten in THE BOURLAND PAPERS .. We think it was the same place as Sadlers' Bend. ..Finding a Wallace reference that made sense was a doozy.
.
SCANLAND, Benjamin Scanland (1817 TN-1896); m-E. Sadler; in 1863 bought 3,980 ac on Fish Creek and Sivell's Bend of Red River; 1870 Cooke cen p205 (Cooke Co, TST)
.
SCANLAND, John J. Scanland (1840 TN-1916) m,1-H.C. Wallace; m,2-N.J. Hughes; 1870 Cooke cen p256; Scanland's Co A, Wells' Battn (Capt, Cooke Co, TST)
.
SCANLAND, John L. Scanland (1815 TN-1879 Montague Co TX) Mex War vet (1839 Robert's Rangers)

Please look again at the "McDonald" entries on my "Wells' Battn" web page:
.
http://www.bourlandcivilwar.com/WellsBattn.htm
.
I am certainly not a McDonald/McConnel/McDaniel researcher, and do not have time to sort this out, but one can see the raw CSA archival data on the above "Wells Battn" web page.
.
The "J.J. McDonald" of Sims' 9th Cav, Co C was the son of Byrd [Middleton Byrd] McDonald (1801-1875 Fann Co TX) and Melinda Williamson, per "TEXAS SCHOOL CENSUS, 1854-55" according to Stephen S. Kirk's A THOUSAND TEXANS, MEN OF THE 9TH TEXAS CAVALRY. ..The 1860 Fannin county cen shows a "Jas. H. McDonald" b-1835 TN enum with this B. McDonald, so I don't know who "J.J. McDonald" was, although I've seen many cases where kids changed their names OR the census taker was mistaken.
.
The above "J.J. McDonald" should not be confused with the "John J. McDonald" below that shows that the CSA officers changed his name so his records would not be confused. As far as I know they fabricated the "W" and the "Jr." since his dad's name was Henry B. McDonald. BTW, my dad was reared near this Sandy Bear Cemetery, and I know these people.
.
McDONALD, John J. W. McDonald, Jr. (1827 IL-1921 Stephens Co OK, Sandy Bear Cem) m-M.M. Wommack; Stevens' 22d Cav, Co G, transferred Jun 30, 1863 to Scanland's Squad, Co A (Fannin Co, TST)
.
Again, please include Scanland's Companies of Wells' Battn, in applicable records.
