Hears the skinny Charles. The man that has been grooming this list lives on the west coast. Very thorough in his research and justly guarded in letting it out before it is finished. I have several friends that are former SCV compatriots. I walked away from the SCV after chartering a new camp quite a few years ago because of the politics involved and the agenda of the Camp. I found that I could do more good in reenacting and living history presentations. It has been very rewarding. I don't miss any of the SCV rhetoric. The "Keeper of the List" is now up in arms over the VA's decision and wants no contact with Oakwood Cemetery. I would never reveal his name as I admire his steadfst beliefs and his amazing research. SO......his list is his list. And I really have no access to it anymore. I tried to help a few people when I knew old friends on The Oakwood Committee. But even some of them have moved on after the VA's new policy. So your only real hope is to contact the cemetery. They are pretty good folks and have a lot of info to help you. I wish you good luck. And that's about all I can tell you. I'm just as disappointed as you are. But egos and politics rule the day. God Bless our Southern Patriots where ever they may rest. They gave the last full measure. If anything changes I will let you know. Write letters and email your state and national legislators. Tell them how you feel about the VA's new policy. I guess sometimes we have to play their game. But we CAN win.
