Several years ago while doing some research about Fort Strother here in St Clair County and General Jackson's ventures here I talked to some residents in the area. I was told of what were the remains of a CW furnace across the river near Ohatchee in Calhoun County. At that time a good portion of the site remained but I could never understand why this site was neglected. Are any of you familure with this site? It might be possible that this was constructed after the war. I have not visited the site since that time and I have no idea if it even exists today.
