Is this the Cane Creek Furnance that was destroyed by Rousseau's Raid? This furnance was located about five miles south of Ten Islands on the east bank of the Coosa. If it is so, it is the 2nd oldest furnance in Alabama, having supplied pig iron to a government foundry in Mobile during the Mexican War, as well as supplying pig iron to the works at Selma during the WBTS.
