Re: Military Actions in Lauderdale County

Thanks, Henry; I appreciate your interest.

If I'm not mistaken, the scout from Pulaski TN to Florence proceeded without incident. On return from Florence, part of Roddey's command was incercepted at Wayland Springs, just over the Tennessee line. As seen in POW records, the skirmish disrupted recruiting for Foster's Cavalry Battalion, which never completed its organization.

As you may know, Sweetwater Creek is a stream that empties into the Tennessee River after flowing through the city of Florence. The 92nd Illinois was involved in a skirmish here as well as at nearby Bainbridge Ferry on Jan. 25, 1864. I'll check on the precise location, and particulars of the skirmishes mentioned in November 1864.

I'm working with limited space and may not be able to reference everything on this map.
