I have always wondered HOW they weighed themselves, especially in camp. My ancestor in the 9th Alabama consistently reported his weight back to his family in Limestone as being from 200-205 pounds- of course, he was 6'5". I have never seen height or weight listed on anything short of prison paroles. I think the group mentioned is fairly representative of the times.

Anyone know how soldiers were weighed?
