30th REGIMENT ALABAMA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY
This regiment organized at Camp Curry near Talladega, Alabama, on March 28, 1862, officers and men enlisting for three years or the war. Officially designated the 30th Alabama Infantry Regiment in early May of 1862, staff appointments in Shelleys command remained incomplete until May 27, 1862.

It's interesting to note some of the interim appointments as well as the differences in company letter designations. Letter designations were important because they helped to establish seniority when it came time for promotions.
