Ken, correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that the Roster of Confederate Soldiers, put out by Broadfoot, is mainly, if not completely made up of names that appear on muster rolls on the CSR. If a soldier died of disease or injury, or was otherwise discharged while still in a camp of instruction early in the war, or joined after the last muster roll was done for his company (often late 1863 or early 1864), he may not show up on the "Roster of Confederate Soldiers." I have found a number who I can prove served, but aren't on this list.
