Re: List of Alabama Officers Who Died In Service

Alan,

Lt. R. R. Scott's name appears in a booklet entitled, "Camp Letterman, The Lost Legacy of Gettysburg's 'Hospital Woods' July-November 1863. It states that he died on July 18th and was buried in Row 1, Grave 8 at Camp Letterman. He was later reburied in Richmond, but it does not identify the cemetary.

Lt. Scott's name is also listed in Colonel Hilary A. Herbert's 'History of the Eighth Alabama Volunteer Regiment C.S.A.' in The Alabama History Quarterly, vol. 39, 1977, p.281, but it states that Scott died on 22 July at Letterman USA Hospital, Gettysburg. It also notes that his name was placed on the roll of honor. Tom
