This man was a member of the "Mobile Cadets", which enrolled in Confederate service at Mobile, Alabama, April 23, 1861, under Capt. Robert M. Sands. He reenlisted after the company's twelve month enlistments expired and was appointed corporal. He was wounded at Sharpsburg MD Sept. 17, 1862, and lost a foot. He was sent first to a hospital at Staunton VA and then to Richmond, where he was furloughed home on Nov. 29, 1862.

There are no indications that he returned to duty, but his record includes no record of discharge, either. He was paroled at Meridian MS with a detachment led by Maj. G. B. Gerald on May 9, 1865.
