As always, many thanks for ypour help. Yes, M.T. Moore was the younger of the two Moore brothers that are my ancestors. The James M. Moore that enrolled in August of '62 is my GGGrandfather. Mathew was captured on April 2, 1865 at Petersburg Federal breakthrough up near Fort Mahone on the Jeruselum Plank Road and sent to Point Lookout. He "swallowed the dog" in June and went home. Younger brother Isaiah ( who had enrolled in July of 64 ) managed to escape Petersburg and made it to Appomattox. He is on list those in the 6th Ala. that were paroled. The family has no record of Isaiah after the surrender and parole. "Our" James M. was wounded at Saunders Field on May 5,' 64. I've pretty well got James tracked from Saunders Field back through Second Corps hospital at Roberston's Tavern/Locust Grove to Excaliber Hotel/Hospital in Gordonsville and finally to series of hospitals in Richmond ( Howards Grove, etc.). On June 13, James was medically furloughed back to Abbeville where he mustered in with authorities and was even paid. Somehow, Mathew went home with James and brought younger brother Isaiah with him when he returned to the regiment in the Valley. I'd love to know how Mathew arranged that ( going home while Brigade was going to the Valley). Of course, on June 13 , the Brigade was leaving the Cold Harbor area, heading for the Valley. They were marching right past the Howards' Grove Hospital on the Mechanicsville Turnpike. James' medical furlough began June 13. Since Mathew was never listed as absent from the regiment, I have assumed that he was given authorization to go home with his wounded, older brother. We have muster records, hospital records, pay and clothing receipts for Mathew and Isaiah during Early's Valley Campaign so they made it back to the regiment by the fall of '64. My plan is to get to the National Archives this winter and dig out James' medical records from the Howard's Grove Hospital. I am told they are there. Thanks again for your assistance.
