Thanks. Very interesting comment by Little Mac about the O&A. south of Manassas Jct. in October. That pretty well settles my question about my folks riding the O&A or the Virginia Central from Gordonsville west. I believe they probably went west from Gordonsville, although they could have taken the O&A to Culpeper C.H. before getting off. My copies of the Moore's CSR are at home; however, I believe I have a document of some type ( muster, pay, clothing) that puts them in northern Virginia in early November before the march south to Fredericksburg. I have not been able to find a "hard document" that documents their actual arrival with the 6th Alabama. Are you aware of any regimental returns ( 6th Ala.)in mid to late October or early November ('62) for the arrival of new recruits where they are named ?
