Re: Joining Rodes after Sharpsburg

Alan,

The first receipt I have from either one of their CSR is a clothing receipt on February 5,1863 for Mathew. He had another receipt on February 21,1863. Considering how devastated the 6th was following the Maryland Campaign, what do you think was going on with the Moore's from their enlistment in the summer of '62 at Abbeville to their first clothing receipts in February of 1863 when the regiment was encamped at Santee down the road from Grace Church ? I have assumed that following completion of their term at Camp Watts, they would have been moved north to join the regiment since it was at "skeleton strength" following the devastation on the Peninsula, at Turner's Gap and Sharpsburg. Do you have regimental returns from '63 that show when they joined the regiment ? Your thoughts ?
