Re: Prattville Dragoons Sabre
In Response To: Re: No Colts at Mount Vernon ()

Actually, I'm looking for anyone who might be able to shed some light on PR weapons issued or used during the CW. I live in NJ, and the sword I won at auction was from an estate in Cape May, NJ. I live close by,...and the unit with notoriety around these parts was the 1st NJ Vol. Cav. A Col. Sawyer was commanding and lived in Cape May. He was wounded at Brandy Station. I was just wondering if the 1st NJ met up with the 3rd Al. anywhere. Also, wondering if there is any evidence of unit marks on anything else from Co. H. The marks on the Ames sabre appear to be period,...much good patina & aging! If this is the real deal, it sure would be nice for it to end up in Prattville.
