My 2nd great grandfather was apparently a conscript. He was 35 when the war began and enlisted in a Home Guard Unit. According to his Confederate Pension Application, He served in Co. I, 22nd Ala. Inf. from "Sept. 1863 to end of War". Wounded in the right arm at Nashville Dec.1864, losing use of the arm permanently. Captured in hospital, Columbus, GA April, 1865, paroled at Greeneville?, Ala. June 1865. I can find no other record of his service. No muster roll, nothing. The pension was granted, so I assume the application was verified. The only card in is file, is for his enlistment in "Goldsmith's Independent Company Alabama Volunteers". Anyone know of any other sources where I might find info on his service?
