Brent --

You asked, "What is the deal with the BAMA records of the 36th and 32nd Alabama Infantry, and 56h ALA CAV"?

As you mentioned, Capt Calvert's company from Wayne County MS served as Company "I", 36th Alabama Regiment. Companies "C" and "D" of the 15th Alabama PR Battn (later Companies "C" and "D" of the 56th Alabama Regiment also came from the same area. Company "C" organized at Garlandville MS.

Chatom didn't exist until 1904, so Calvert's company mustered at Mount Vernon Arsenal. No doubt some companies of the 32nd Alabama Regiment included Mississippi residents from just over the state line.

Is the problem that you didn't expect to find Mississippi men in Alabama regiments? Don't understand what you want to know.
