We are having a hard time finding many service records, for soldiers in the 36th AL co I and E This is what our Camp adjutant Alvin Roberts said today

" The problem I am having on Fold3 is for the 36th and several other Alabama units, there's no A - B last names. Don't know if some of that info got lost or those records captured during the war or what. So anybody who served in the 36th who has a last name starting with A or B I can't find records on."

Would the 36th ALA be signing people up in Waynesboro MS? so early in the war? why would The State of Alabama come to Waynesboro to enlist people? On the MSCGR we find 2 soldiers listed as 36th AL, when there stones are located they have 56th AL CAV.
