All of that will be helpful. I really am going to Salt Lake City and search for more information on the family. Last summer I just sort of stumbled on this book about Shelby County marriages so that is how I found out that they had married in Sept of 1842.
As I said before, there should have been some children born in the 1840's, and there are not any showing up.
W. J. and William J. and Chesterfield really may be some of the ones I am looking for. That J letter probably stood for James. Chesterfield just sounds like the name of someone who had Virginia connections to me.
To be honest, I had never even heard of the Oliver P. Bayne, but then one of his descendents and I discovered each other this weekend.
The Baynes landed in what was then the colonies in the 1600's. It is possible that these folks may have come on a ship called something like the Ark and the Dove.
