Linda, speaking of Frederick Price, there's a "mystery man" in my records of the 1st Arkansas Battalion, U.S. Volunteers, named Frederick F. Price. The 1st Battalion was a six-month outfit recruited in Conway, Independence and White counties, and organized at Helena in July 1862. At the end of October it was transferred to Benton Barracks, near St. Louis, Missouri, where it was mustered out of service in December.
Frederick F. Price and a few other men enlisted in the battalion in October 1862, just as the battalion was departing Helena. There's no other mention of them, except for a record of their enlistment. I hate loose ends in my rosters, and Frederick F. Price and his comrades are still loose ends.
