You did nothing wrong. You will note I did not remove your posting, which I would have done had you gone too far outside the scope of the discussions on this site.

What I hope the posters on this and the other message boards will acknowledge and accept is that I've been doing this a long time, namely managing and administering these boards. I've come to learn what entirely innocent and thoughtful postings might lead the discussions into an area of contention and strong opinions. Respectful contention, especially based on historical sources, is great, but opinions and feelings based postings generally lead us into trouble, primarily because people have long and well-founded views on the rightness or wrongness of "their side".

Please don't limit or feel uncomfortable about your postings on this site. It's alright to mix in family stories and even some respectful comments about the side your ancestor fought for or the honoring of their respective flags etc. Just remember that the primary purpose of this site and the other state and special interest sites is for the dissemination and sharing of sourced historical data.

I appreciate your participation.
