Yes, I had always heard that. I have been told the CSA soldiers were moved to make way for paying customers.
I was interested in this reburial of the men as I feel sure that my ancestor Lt. Fielding Price was one of those moved since he had died in the Yankee Prison in Little Rock on Feb. 1, 1865 from smallpox. The distance from the prison to Mt. Holly was quite short as the prison was located where the state capitol now sits.
If a person were to take the book, Rebel's Hell and identify all of those listed as dying in the prison, that would be one way to identify some of those dead.
