Danny you are correct. The account seemed to have been written as a summary of events, rather than a chronology.

As far as the "10,000 man Division", you are correct. Walker's Division was actually at that time more like 6,000 men, that may have been an overestimation, but the 10,000 figure seem to be based on early enrollments before all the illness and discharges for disabilities that struck the Division.

They seemed to have the same problem with numbers as we do today. On paper a Brigade was supposed to have 3 to 4 regiments of 1,000 men each. Therefore 3 brigades, as in the case of Walkers Texans, was supposed to be 10,000 men by that rule. But in reality a regiment was never 1,000 men. More commonly a regiment was 750 men and it was never at full strenght and most commonly at half strenght of less.
