Yes that is correct. The change in Unit designation numbers between the Arkansas organization and the Trans-Mississippi dept. table of organization confuses even the best of us. Actually I was thinking of two different events at the time.

I knew that Fagan's 1st Arkansas Cavalry was organized from independant cavalry companies at WSS in early August 1862 by Hindman's orders. I actually found Commissary recepits in Muster rolls papers for corn being issues to the 1st Ark. Cav. from Camp Lee at Sulphur Springs in Aug. of '62. So I know they were there.

Then I thought of Monroe's Cavalry leading the east column of attack on the march from Princeton to Pine Bluff for the Battle of Pine Bluff, because of their being familuar with the roads in Jefferson County at night, because some of them were from Jefferson County. And I thought to myself in my febble mind 'hey they were organized at Sulphur Springs also', failing to remember that Monroe was Fagan's 1st Ark's Cav. orignal second in command at the moment that I wrote that. And that Fagan's never actually commanded the regiment, because Monroe, by those same orders, that ordered the 1st to assembly for organization, was put in command until Fagan arrived to take command. Which I don't believe Fagan ever did.
