What to do with this research is a problem that I have been worring with. I hope that maybe I have left a number of clues on the board and in other peoples heads that maybe the interest will not die when I do. After all it lay hidden for over 130 years before we were able to crack the barriers that exposed this period of history.

If interest in White Sulphur Springs and the lower Arkansas River history does die when I depart, then that is a more compelling reason NOT to worry with the expense in money alone, let alone the investment of time, to write a book.

After all very few practical people will write any book without the prospect of at least recouping their cost. Not that I regret this at all.

But I have already invested 20 years to researching this subject and the cost associated with that. I have also invested several thousands of dollars in personally purchasing some of the property and restoring the Camp White Sulphur Springs Confederate Cemetery. Along with the cost of maintaining the site as a public memorial and working to raise moneies to establish an endownment fund for the future protection of the site.

The details of my research may be lost in the future when I pass on, But I have at least done everything I can to leave behind a memorial, in the form of stone, to at least some of the soldiers that gave their lives in the southern cause. Maybe that will serve as a "Bookmark" in the pages of history.
