Clay-

Harmony church is north off of Hwy. 73 on RR 31. My g-g grandfathers place was just north of there and a few miles directly east of Laneburg near Antioch Baptist church which he founded in in 1913. His father came to this area from South Carolina in the 1850's and the land was a grant as a result of his fathers service in the S.C. militia from the war of 1812 (Scrip Warrant Act of 1850). My ancestor served in Capt. Prescotts (town of the same name) company of the 19/24th Ark. later Hardy's regiment.
I have long been interested in the history of this area, including the (now empty) area of Sutton (a number of Suttons in his company) and Capt. Prescott who according to his obit "lost leg in war" (Jenkins Ferry?) and later became a county judge. I came accross an article on Nevada county that states: "The Union army (after moscow) continued east toward Camden and came to Terre Rouge bottom now on the Cale road. It is referred to as the 'bottomless bottom'. The Federal army managed to cross after cross-laying the mire places with logs and proceeded toward Camden by Bluff City and Poison Springs in Ouachita County."
