troops were probaly moved on the road between camden and washington that was there before the war. itwas there beforethe war.it goes by moscow church. most roads where on ridges in those days. wagon ruts are still in the ground somewhere near hill top south of prescott i read it years ago in prescott news paper. all indian main trails where on ridge tops where they didnt have as many streams to cross. and early settlers made them into roads. as the old military rd. between washington andblevins is now no streams at all crossr oad. the best map to use is topo map of any area and you can best fine where roads and trails were. there were already roads across swamps east of moscow for wagons to get to washington years before war for supplys from steamboats to get to the settlers going to texas during the jim bowie days. they wont go down hightway 24 it runs below ridges and would be to many small streams to cross. same reason going south to laneburg or cale. yanks probable seen corn supplies when retreating to camden and sent troopsback after every thing cooled down. but got caught at posoin springs.
