The way you describe it makes sense and I am not familiar with the topography of the area as you are. I cant't think that the federals would continue on that far south (Laneburg) before turing east to toward Camden though Steeles orginal intention may have been Washington (Hope). If the federals went south on 19 and then turned east,say around Laneburg then they would have come very close to the "home place" but if they went directly east on 24 and then turned south towards Cale then they wouldn't have been as near. Clarification: You said "County Road..." and I think we call those "Rual Routes" in Oklahoma so thanx for the clarification. One question: Roads in Arkansas are as confusing to me as trying to sort out Arkansas CSA regiments, when you say "Cale road" would that be hwy. 299 to I think, Morris and then south on 200 to Cale or 19 south to Mt. Moriah and then east to Cale? What would be the present day "Cale Road? I look forward to any postings you should have on this area. Thank-you.
