In looking at his CSR it does not state wounded at either SHiloh or Murfreesboro. In looking at the original casualty listing for Liddell's Brig of the 8th ARk Inf at Murfreesboro, no J. W. Rodgers or Rogers is listed for Company E or any other company in that regiment. This list is a very detailed list of wounded, minor and severe, so either the wound was so slight it was not reported or perhaps it was in another battle.
