I am looking for further documentation on ggg-grandfather A.P. Starnes (Aaron Pinkney Starnes), who was from Van Buren County, Arkansas, and served as a sergeant in the 10th Arkansas Infantry Regiment Company C (according to his tombstone). An A.P. Starnes enlisted at Springfield, Arkansas, on July 16, 1861. Commanding officers are listed as Cols. T.D. Merrick and A.R. Witt. He was discharged as over age on July 18, 1862 (ca. 36 years old), presumably after the Battle of Shiloh.

Apparently, he didn't think he was too old because he (or an A.P. Starns) enlisted as a sergeant with the 8th Arkansas Cavalry, Company A at Clinton, Arkansas, on Feb. 4, 1863. Commanding officers were Robert C. Newton and Thomas J. Morgan. No further record after February, 1864.

A pension application was filed by Ann Starnes in Van Buren County, whose husband was A.P. Starnes. The application indicated that he served in Company A, Morgan's Regiment of the Arkansas Cavalry from 1862 to 1865. The 1862-1865 would not seem to be correct given the previous.

In addition to documentation, would be interested to know in which battles his regiments might have participated.
