Can you tell us what kind of problems they seemed to be having? I am far from an expert on this subject, but I think that most cavalry units used the Colt Army in .44 caliber for a hand gun and either the Spenser or Sharps for a carbine. Perhaps some units used the Remington in .44 instead of the Colt. FC
