Although I don't know what carbines they carried but if you read; "The Devil Knows how to ride" by Edward Leslie & look on page 306, you will see where after George Todd had his falling out with Quantrill & approximately 6 days later, Todd's men ambushed a 26 man patrol of the 2nd Colorado Cavalry & killed the officer & 7 troopers. The troopers were carrying Savage revolvers which were considered inferior. Even the Guerrillas threw them away. The encounter was the first between the 2nd Colorado & the Guerrillas, but Todd's men were impressed by their "sand" and especially their horses (those that were captured from the dead troopers & officer).
