In doing a search on the Internet, I found that the reference to "French Dragoon" mostly pertains to imported mini balls in .689 caliber. The round was distinct in that the base of the ball had a triangle shape cavity in, which was unique to French manufacture. I may be mistaken, but I find it hard to believe a handgun was designed to fire such a round. It would take a heck of a man to fire that large a round.
