Just look a the flag for one. Secondly, compare the measurements that I have presented here for what Howie told me and what this flag has - they are virtually identical!!!!! Third, Howie proved that they served with Walker's command for 6 months and he believed that is where they got the flag - and Walker's troops got them from the Charleston Depot.

I have been through Howie's books of his scale drawings but it has been several years but I bet that I would find this flag located with the rest of his Charleston Depot drawings just the same.

So why are you the only one here who thinks it is not a CD flag? And if not then what is it? It does not resemble a Staunton Depot flag at all (the blue cross is too wide for one) and it is definitely not a Richmond Depot flag.

With regards to units of the same brigade carrying the same flag pattern, yep, that happened indeed but there was also some differences in patterns. For example, we know that in Matt Ector's Brigade in 1864 the two NC regiments carried Mobile Depot flags while the four Texas regiments carried four Richmond Depot ANV Fourth Bunting flags brought to them by an officer of one of the regiments per what Robert Maberry found in his book on Texas flags. I can see the 46th Mississippi carrying their CD flag even after the new Mobile Depot flags were issued to the rest of the brigade. So long as the flag looked similar to the other flags then it worked. We know from flag captures in the Atlanta Campaign that some ANV Third Bunting flags were also used and taken - one being in Illinois today and he 26th Alabama's flag being another.
