I've seen those bit of information you shared and I'm still trying to make sense of all the pieces. I'm also trying to track back to the original documents to see where that information I posted was first found. Seeing as that name was given to Ken as a Color Sgt. in 2002, I hope that since he has a 10+ year head start on this name he might have already found/sorted out what is going on here. I also notice that the terms Color Sgt. and Color Bearer are being used very carefully in these accounts (since the two are not always one and the same). Also I found another note about Evans I believe it was listing his as carrying the colors since Gettysburg, but it was written by a Capt. who was not commanding the regiment at the time and who may not have known who actually was carrying them. No matter what, take a look at that grave marker...someone a long while ago appears to have been confident enough in the research to place Clr Sgt. upon it (though who knows if it is in error).
