I've been in the process of compiling a roster
of Confederate Colorbearers & Color Guards
for almost 30 years now. I still do not think that
I'm even close to a final count.
I always give the veterans and "family lore" the
benefit of the doubt. Better to include the unworthy, than leave out the worthy.
May I ask what makes your think that Nathan
Oates was a Colorbearer?
What do you know of William? If Nathan was indeed
a Colorbearer; would not William be close by?
