I am not sure I am following you when you said that the seamstress had a desire to give them an extra flair with a decorative border stitch.. Are you saying that she added a decorative border stitch to the stars? I am looking hard at these photos and I don't see any extra stitching. I see typical fraying of the material that has been soiled over the years but no hand stitching. Maybe I am not looking at it correctly. I have downloaded all of the star closeups so could you point me to an example?
