Re: Polk County and A small but Spartan band

Hey Zach - Well, we are almost pen-pals now ... thanks for answering the earlier email! You are very kind to attend to a stranger's request for input...and so rapidly!

I think we should communicate most of the forthcoming details over the phone, or perhaps during a one-day meeting in May or June. I will leave that in your able hands for juggling.

The "Sketch" for the Concept Drawing of the Florida Boys at Second Cold Harbor is underway ... it usually takes two months (perhaps I will have something to show you in mid-June) .... I am most interested in dialoging the "idea of the art project" for now .... there are some very clear and (what I call) "Art Worthy" images in your writing ... the story you captured of the several officers shot down in such quick succession has always been a painful event for me to read. When I first came across Geer's, "Memories of the War", Feb-1906, I was sickened by the incredible loss of such valiant hearts! What a strange pattern of loosing capable and dynamic Officers and NCOs the Florida Brigades suffered during 1862-1864. After reading your book's rendition, and quote from Geer - well, it was enough to t commit the CSA150's Art Team to their next art project: to do something for the Crackers of Florida (those who gave their all) during the great struggle for Southern Nationhood.

Our company does not sell the books of other authors ... but - with and after some conversation - I would be proud to assist you with getting the word out about your book: "A Small but Spartan Band" ! It is a fine read!

As a Florida Cracker myself ... and with long roots that hearken back to the American Revolutionary War and before that ... I would enjoy seeing the 150th Anniversary Years (up-and-coming 2011-2015) used as an opportunity to correct the unfortunate knowledge-gap as to Florida's deserved high-place in the annuals of the War Between the States. Yours and Mr. Edmond's work in your elegant book is a great start! Again sir - Kudos!

I would recommend that from here - we shall email our further comments. As this forum is primarily intended to exchange information that the public requires, and avidly supports for open dissemination - I surely want to demonstrate respect for that service.

On behalf of your growing fan base - I add my name to the list!

Respectfully,
Sbrinkley
