Re: Polk County and A small but Spartan band

As you probably know, the 2nd, 5th and 8th Florida Regiments were not captured at this time.

The incident Caldwell seems to be describing took place near Suffolk VA on April 19, 1863. Companies "A" and "B" of the 44th Alabama Regiment were captured at Hill’s Point on that date.

It could be that Caldwell remembered something he heard or read at the time, and simply got bad information.
