Thanks, Tom. Captain Lemon would have been in command at Gettysburg. He was captured at Knoxville when Col. Ruff was killed. Lemon got upon the parapet, using his sword to dig steps in the frozen mud. He was armed with his pistol when he got to the top, but a union soldier clubbed him with a rifle. He was sent to Camp Delaware, I believe. He was photographed while a POW, using a clean uniform jacket supplied by the photographer. He was one of the immortal 600. He returned to Cobb County, Georgia, after the war. He signed my great uncle Alexander Newton Boring's pension application. Alex was 4th Sergeant, and was captured at Cedar Creek October 19th, 1864, and sent to point Lookout. His younger brother, Uncle Francis A. Boring, was wounded at Spotsylvania and sent home to recover. He was captured at Roswell, Georgia, July 11, 1864 and sent to Camp Douglas. His pension application stated he contracted rheumatism from the exposure he suffered. My GGF, Lemuel H. Boring, died at Seven Pines and is buried in Richmond. He married his older sister in law when the oldest brother, Thomas, died before the war. My GF, Isaac Thomas, was born in 1859, or I wouldn't be here! As a little boy, I watched him die in 1942. He was at home in bed in his living room. He sat up and spoke my mother's name, Dell, and passed away. My GM, Maud Wallace Boring, was 27 years younger than he, and always referred to him as "Mr. Boring." Stan
