Tom.....The data I posted was from a book of various excerpts of the Jackson County newspaper. I also have the book "The Early History of Jackson County as well as the book "These Men Wore Grey Jackson County, Georgia.
All of these sources contain some muster lists and each of the lists names that may not be contained in other muster rolls.

I have been attempting to extract the service records of the men who served in the 13th/16th Battalion Georgia Calvary (in excess of 2,500). I have probably finished less than 200 because it is a long slow process. My source is the paid site that allows access to the CSR in the National Archives. The records contained in the Archives have some men that do not appear on muster rolls that are listed in various historical sources. By the same token the Archives have CSR of men who do not appear on the Sailors and Solders Web Site maintained by the National Park Service.

Newspaper's published during this era also list names not found in other sources and well as omissions of names that are found on other sites.

In summary there are gaps in every list that you may come across. Probably due to poor record keeping or else some records were deliberately destroyed and never made it into a permanent record that was retained. In many instances the spelling of the names vary so greatly that it is very difficult to determine the correct name that actually served.

The longer the time frame that exist after the end of the Civil War the more records that are lost to history forever.
