S. Z. Ruff, first XO and later Co of the 18th Ga. Infantry, ANV, until killed at Knoxville, was before the war an instructor at GMI. What he taught would be nice to know. The school was on Powder Springs Street in Marietta, where the Civic Center, formerly the Country Club, stands now. If I remember correctly, Sherman used it for some purpose prior to its destruction.
