I don't have the Supplement to the OR's, so I don't have the text of Buster's report.

So this is referring to a number of men/infantry not the name of a group of men? Yes, I would agree that if it is a "number" it most likely is referring to all or a part of Buster's Battalion, as they were the only possible infantry at Old Fort Wayne. I think you've discovered something new, namely the strength of Buster's Battalion in October of '62.
