Thanks very kindly for the information. A family history that we have cites that Nathaniel mustered into the 1st Choctaw and Chickasaw Mounted Rifles on July 8, 1861 at Nails Bridge serving as bugler for Capt. Welch's Company, but I have not been able to confirm this particular date.
